General Recruitment Fair Information for Harry Deelman Branch CANDIDATES
Some Search Associates candidates decide not to attend any recruitment fair, but the great majority do choose to improve their chances of securing a really good new job by attending one (and occasionally, more) of the various recruitment fairs that Search Associates organises in different countries around the world every year. Candidates registered with the Harry Deelman branch can contact Harry's office via to request an invitation to any Search Fair, with the exception of the London-January Fair which has a different sign-up system in that it requires candidates to complete an online application.
Harry Deelman is normally a member of the Search team present at all the following five fairs, noting also that Margaret Deelman is usually also one of the team at the London fairs and Glynn Morgan (executive assistant in the Harry Deelman office) is normally at every Bangkok fair with Harry. Hence considerable personal attention and help is available for every Harry Deelman branch candidate at these five fairs in particular. In their calendar sequence they are:
Bangkok-January – about 100 good schools from many world regions attend, including about the same number of Asia-located schools as attend London-January each year; note that this Bangkok fair has a high proportion of strong American-background schools and fewer IB schools than London-January.
London-January – between 80 and 100 top IB (PYP, MYP and/or DP) international schools, and 15 to 25 strong British-system overseas schools, from all over the world. Candidates of "unusual" nationalities do particularly well at this very multi-national fair.
Dubai – normally more than 50 schools (up to half of them being IB schools) attend this fair, the majority of them being located in the Arabian Gulf countries or other Middle East (and South Asia) nations. Some schools from Europe, Africa and East & Central Asia usually also attend.
Bangkok-Spring – since the total number of candidates attending is much lower than at the Bangkok-January fair, the chances of gaining a job at one of the 30+ schools (mainly located in Asia) that recruit at this fair can be quite high, and this is a particularly good fair if you like to have time to weigh up options and meet several times with one or two specific schools' recruiters.
London-Spring – in most years about 50 schools (up to half of them being IB schools) attend this fair, from worldwide locations including a good number of schools from Europe.
Each of the above fairs is organised so as to minimise time out of school for recruiters and candidates. Characterised by the Search Associates hallmark of a relaxed and supportive atmosphere, these and the other Search fairs give candidates a great opportunity to update their knowledge of different schools on the international circuit, as well as a good chance of a job.
By writing an e-mail to candidates registered with Harry Deelman can also (or alternatively) request a candidate place at any of the following fairs, where one or more of Harry's colleagues in the worldwide Search team will give support and advice:
Sydney – about 40 schools; candidates should be Australia / New Zealand residents.
Hong Kong – about 30 schools, all from China or Taiwan or Mongolia.
Toronto – 40+ schools, worldwide locations; candidates mainly Canadians.
Cambridge / Boston (USA) – 120+ schools, often seeking USA / Canadian teachers.
San Francisco (USA) – 40 or more schools; several from Latin America.
Bethesda / Washington DC (USA) – about 30 schools; job chances very high.

Note: only returning Search Associates candidates who were registered with Harry Deelman in the past, and new-to-Search IB-experienced candidates whose principal aim is to attend Search's Bangkok-January or Bangkok-Spring Fair, should register with the Harry Deelman branch. All other new-to-Search IB-experienced candidates, and also recruiters who visit this IB-emphasis Search website, should review only Gez Hayden Branch pages.
