Harry Deelman
Harry Deelman joined Search Associates in 1993 after many years as a teacher (Buenos Aires & Birmingham) and Headmaster of British system and international schools in Buenos Aires, Rome, Dubai and Bangkok. His branch of Search now works only with returning past-candidates registered originally with the Harry Deelman branch and with new-to-Search IB-experienced candidates whose principal aim is to attend Search's Bangkok-January Fair.
Harry grew up in South Africa and the UK. His B.A. and M.A. from Cambridge University are in Maths and Economics, and during his education year at Oxford he was shown the draft format of the original International Baccalaureate Diploma programme, the Director of the Oxford Education Department at the time being Alec Peterson. Hence Harry's IB connection goes back a long way! He has strong ties with IB schools in particular, but also with A-Level / (I)GCSE schools and the primary & middle schools that feed these, as well as good links with American & other overseas schools.
During his career in schools, Harry was an active member of many International Schools organizations, serving on the committees of ESSARP (the very active River Plate schools' organisation), COBISEC (British schools in Europe) and ECIS, where for a period he was Vice-Chairman of the Board.
Membership of BSME (British Schools in the Middle East) and EARCOS (East Asia) came with later work, and for thirteen years he was an overseas member of Britain's HMC (Headmasters & Headmistresses Conference). He has been for many years a regular participant at major IB regional and worldwide conferences.
After a successful career in international education of her own, Margaret Deelman joined Harry as a key member of the small "Harry Deelman branch" team within Search Associates in 1996. Born and brought up in Peru & the U.K., Margaret has a B.A. and M.A. from Cambridge University and a PGCE from the University of Bristol.
Both Harry and Margaret, and also their executive assistant Glynn Morgan (a former Head and Deputy in a range of schools in four countries, three continents), have accumulated a very extensive knowledge base as regards overseas and international schools. Having visited many, they have first hand knowledge of the schools and their various educational systems.
