Search Associates London-February 2009 Recruitment Fair Information for CANDIDATES

Dates: 6-9 February 2009
  • It is absolutely essential for candidates to check-in (with Search Associates) and to attend a Candidate Meeting on the afternoon or very early evening of Friday 6 February 2009.
  • The interview days for teachers are Saturday 7 February & Sunday 8 February.  Most Heads interview on both days, and hope to see candidates on Monday 9 February too.

N.B. There is parking available at the hotel (cost £1.00 /hour for hotel guests; £3.00 /hour for non residents) or metered parking on the street nearby at £1.60 /hour Monday to Saturday (8.30 - 18.30), free on Sundays.  Public transport is recommended.  The Hammersmith tube (Subway / Underground) station is very near the hotel.  Hammersmith is on the Piccadilly line, which links London Heathrow Airport to central London and beyond.
Accommodation:
Candidates are not required to stay at the hotel, but there is a distinct advantage in terms of availability for interviews and "exposure" to the recruiters, all of whom stay at the Novotel.  We do not have information about other hotels.
Hotel Booking (preferably only after you have received a confirmed invitation to this fair):

  • Bookings must be made using the above form and sent directly to Reservations at the Novotel London West, no later than 14 January 2009.  Please note that the hotel could be fully booked by January so we strongly recommend that reservations be made no later than December 2008, the earlier the better.  (See note below regarding cancellations without penalty.)

  • Indicate clearly whether you need a room for one or two people and with or without the full English breakfast.  The prices listed are inclusive of VAT.
  • Your booking must be guaranteed by credit card.  Book much earlier than the deadline noted above.  Cancellations can be made without penalty but please give the hotel at least a week's notice.

Which Teachers?
  • Excellent teachers of all nationalities welcome, especially those with International Baccalaureate (PYP, MYP and/or DP) experience, or equivalent.
  • This Recruitment Fair is designed for top teachers from around the world who are looking for positions in highly regarded IB international schools.
  • Interview opportunities for all standard specialisms from Nursery/Primary class teacher (PYP especially) through MYP to IB SL & HL, in just about all subjects.  In addition, Principals, Librarians, Counsellors and a number of other specialists are usually in demand at this fair.
Which Schools?
  • The Schools interviewing at this fair will come from a wide variety of locations worldwide; schools from Europe, Middle East, Asia, Africa and the Americas are expected.
  • Almost all will offer at least part of the International Baccalaureate (PYP, MYP and/or DP).
  • A selected group of maximum 100 schools - by invitation only.

I'm interested - what should I do next?
  1. Register with Search Associates.
  2. Print out and read the London-February 2009 Fair Candidate Schedule and Conditions pages and then submit the online Candidate Fair Application Form.
    Early applicants will have priority for confirmations of places at this fair, but for the benefit of recruiters and candidates alike, matching candidates to the schools' stated needs must remain the key criterion for allocation of candidate places.
  3. If you are already registered with Search Associates, ensure that your file is fully up to date, including at least three current confidential Supervisor references, and if you are not registered with the Harry Deelman branch please inform your Search sponsor that you are applying for a place at the London-February Fair.
  4. Once you have received confirmation of your candidate place at this fair from Harry Deelman, book your own accommodation in London.
Deadline for applications:
  • Preferred deadline 14 December 2008.  Applying in November 2008 is best.
  • Absolute deadline for candidates who are already fully registered with Search Associates and for whom Harry Deelman has already received all of the necessary paperwork, including confidential references: 14 January 2009.
    Note: No candidate papers will be processed after this date.
Visa: EC passport holders and many others travelling from overseas require no visa but, if in doubt, please check with your travel agent and/or nearest U.K. embassy / consulate in good time.  Allow at least one month!
